Interim and final reports: 1. This template is intended for the preparation of both interim and final reports for projects supported by the SFOE's Energy Research and Cleantec Section. It is recommended that the interim reports are prepared with regard to the final report, which should cover the entire duration of the project ("Living document"). This is subject to discussion with the relevant program management. The "Report type" and "Date" selection fields on the cover sheet can be adapted for this purpose. To create a new interim report or the final report, please use the Word document of the previous interim report as the starting document. 2. Publication: In principle, interim and final reports are published on www.aramis.admin.ch. This is not done automatically, and the agreement of the project partners is required before publication. If a report is not to be made public in its entirety, a public version which must contain all the key messages of the project is produced in addition to the interim/final report. Depending on the program, previous public interim reports are deleted and replaced by the latest interim or final report. Please check with the program management for specific requirements in this regards. 3. Documents must be self-sufficient and not refer to other non-public documents such as the proposal. 4. The template contains a content structure on how the report should be organised. This structure and the wording of the individual chapters can be adapted if necessary. If required, please structure the report with additional sub-chapters. 5. Specific word format style ("EC_REP_2024") are predefined in the template. Please use these format templates for a standardised appearance of reports. Please insert text from other documents in unformatted form. 6. Summary in 3 languages: this should be half a page to a maximum of one page and briefly summarize the initial situation, the motivation for the project, the results with discussion and the impact of the project in a language which interested reader can understand. Please write a coherent text, possibly structured by a few paragraphs (no lists or enumerations). 7. Images and graphics: please include them in as good a resolution as possible and in small files (vector graphics). Images/graphics should always be captioned, including a brief description of what is represented (not just “Figure 1”). 8. Abbreviations: please define all abbreviations the first time they are used in the text and include them in the list of abbreviations. Proposed structure: 1 Introduction 1.1 Context and motivation Description of the state of the art and/or the market. Presentation of the general context of the project with references to publications (literature analysis). Description and discussion of the existing challenge and the general way in which the project could provide a solution or contribution to the challenges listed. (typically ½ to 1 ½ pages excluding images). 1.2 Project objectives Description of the on the meaning and purpose of the present project, how it will concretely address the challenges mentioned in 1.1 as well as the issues to be investigated, the expected results and the concrete objectives (qualitative and/or quantitative) to be achieved with the present project. (Typically ½ to 1 ½ pages excluding images). 2 Approach, method, results and discussion Presentation of the methods used, the activities carried out and the results obtained (qualitative and quantitative), together with their critical analysis. The inclusion of sub-chapters to structure the various aspects of the project is recommended. If desired, separate chapters can be devoted to the presentation of certain points, such as the methods employed or the technical installations under study. (Typically, 15 to 50 pages depending on the scope of the project, with the possibility of referencing scientific publications available in open access). 3 Conclusions and outlook Description of the findings that can be drawn from the project results and discussion of the relevance for the subject area worked on as well as a final assessment and appraisal of the work carried out. Discussion of the next steps after completion of the project, and assessment of possible future implementation of the project results. Description of further open questions and the possible need for further work. IN THE CASE OF AN INTERIM REPORT: A PRELIMINARY ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS ACHIEVED TO DATE AND THE WORK CARRIED OUT, AND A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE PROJECT'S NEXT STEPS. (Typically, 1 to 2 pages). 4 National and international cooperation Information on activities with other actors in Switzerland and/or abroad. 5 Publications and other communications Details of the publications that have resulted from this project (list). 6 References List of literature sources. If there are a large number of sources, please use cross-references. List of published data and models/codes with access link. 7 Appendix Appendices to the report, if applicable. 8 Internal project controlling (confidential) Brief description of the general status of the project, its schedule and budget situation, with the main focus on describing any deviations from the planned schedule and budget. In the event of deviations, description of the implications for the further progress of the project and any corrective measures taken or to be taken. The contents of this chapter will subsequently be removed from the public version of the report. 9 Internal data management plan and open access/data/model strategy (confidential) If relevant, description and possible adaptations of the data management plan and open ac-cess/data/model strategy. The contents of this chapter will then be removed from the public version of the report. 20.06.2024
